Open House Evening
Please plan to join us for an open house on Thursday, September 26 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. This is an opportunity for your child to share their classroom and other learning spaces with you. This time is not for meetings with your child’s teacher.
Should you wish to have a confidential meeting please contact your child’s teacher to book a time. School doors will open at 5:00 pm.
Arriving on Time
We are noticing many students arriving late to school. This creates a challenging situation for them as walking into a class alone can be hard for kids, and it also causes a disturbance to the learning that has already started in the classroom. We ask that children arrive at the school between 8:50 am and 8:58 am and are ready to begin learning at 8:58 am. Should you child arrive late please have them go to the office to check in before going to their classroom.
Utensils for Lunch and School Snacks
Please remember to send your child to school with everything they need to enjoy their lunch. We are not able to provide any utensils to students at lunchtime. As well, please talk with your child about their lunch and snacks to ensure they are bringing enough food for the day. We find many children do come ask for more snacks. When needed we provide a bag of carrots to children who are hungry.
No Dogs on the School Grounds
I would like to remind everyone that dogs are never allowed on school grounds. This is a city bylaw.
Parents in the School
I know the first few days is hard for younger students and their families. There are many nerves and often children want someone to walk them into the school. We ask that parents say good-bye outside and allow their children to enter the school with their peers and teachers only. For the safety of all in the building, all adults MUST enter the school through the front doors and ALWAYS check in at the office.
First KSC September 17 – IN PERSON
We will be having our first KSC meeting of the year on September 17 at 6:30. This will be an IN PERSON meeting at Killarney.

Complete Online Forms By September 16
Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:
- Demographic Verification - 2024-25 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.
- Citizenship Information Update - 2024-25 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.
- Annual Authorization - 2024-25 – Combines the following forms:
o School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services.
o Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties.
o Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties
SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc.
If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer, to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).
To complete these forms:
- sign in to your MyCBE account
- click on the SchoolEngage icon
- select the form
- complete or review and update the form
- click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
- repeat steps 3-5 for each form
Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, September 16. These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education to confirm student funding.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school. We thank those families who have already completed Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms for their children for the 2024-25 school year.

The September 14 Meet Me at the Symphony Carmina Burana Concert is now sold out. It is possible to phone the Calgary Philharmonic box office and ask to be placed on a ticket waitlist.
