Head Lice at School We are continuing to struggle with head lice at Killarney and have new cases multiple times a week. We ask that ALL families check their children’s head for evidence of head lice. If you find nits or lice, please follow the recommendations from Alberta Health Services in properly treating. Below is information from Alberta Health Services to help you in the process. The video is very informative, and I recommend you watch it through. The last minute of the video shares how to properly care for items that have been in contact with the individual with head lice. Alberta Health Services says that children with head lice can attend school as usual after treatment. We will continue to update classroom families as new cases arise.

Drinks in the Classroom We are noticing more sugary and caffeinated drinks being brought into the classrooms. We ask that students do not bring pop, slushies, Timmies or Starbucks drinks to school. All teachers request that students drink water in class, or juice at lunchtime.

Looking for Sweatpants or Elastic Waist Shorts With the wonderful change in weather brings a lot of slipping in mud! We are in need of sweatpants or shorts for boys and girls sizes 5-10. If you have anything at home that does not fit any longer we would gladly take them at the office!

Extended vacations If your family will be taking an extended vacation through spring break, please contact the office so we can adjust the attendance correctly.

KSC Updates Thank you Killarney! The council has secured a new Casino Chair for next year. We are now looking for someone to take on the very rewarding role of Events Chair. This is a big role, helping the council put on 4 plus events throughout the year. Including, but not limited to, the welcome back event, the Halloween family party, the KSC movie night and grade 6 graduation. Volunteer hours vary throughout the year. This role is very important to our school, it brings fun and school spirit to our school community. This role can be co-chaired and could also work with an events committee to support all our events throughout the school year. If you are interested in this role, or would like more information please contact Joanna At KPC Chair (Joanna Anagnostakos-Glynn)

MAPSS Volunteer Positions MAPSS has been working actively to raise funds and expand our impact on the 3 Montessori Schools, and our efforts are paying off! However, to continue our success, we need the support of more volunteers. We are specifically looking to fill the Social Media and Communications role as soon as possible and need volunteers for our upcoming PEACE NIGHT on April 24th. Your support will help us make a more significant difference in your school.

If you're interested in getting involved, please email Jenna at president@mapss.ca; we'd love to have you on board!
