Killarney Open House Dates
We are excited to welcome families considering Killarney for their child’s education to join us for 2 open house events this month.
On January 23rd, please join us virtually at 6pm to learn about Alternative programs in the CBE, and specifically about Montessori. You will also learn about registration, lottery process, boundaries, important dates and other relevant information, along with an opportunity to ask your questions. (Link is on calendar event)
On January 30th, from 6-7pm potential students and their families are invited to come to Killarney School and learn all about the life of a Montessori student, meet teachers and visit classrooms from Kindergarten through grade 6!
We encourage potential new families to attend BOTH of these events as different information will be shared each night.
Kindergarten Registration CBE kindergarten registration opens January 13th, 2025 and runs through Feb 11, 2025. Killarney typically requires a lottery as more students register than there are spaces. This is NOT a first come first serve situation. There is no need to register on the first day. Students entering Kindergarten September 2025 fall MUST turn 5 years old by December 31, 2025. Cold Weather Days As we can anticipate cold weather in January, I would like to remind everyone of the expectations for cold days. On BLUE days (-20°C or lower including wind chill) doors will be open starting at 8:45 am. Please do not drop off students before 8:45 am. Students should always be prepared to go outside on cold days. We will be outside until temperatures reach
-20°C. Please be sure to send students to school in appropriate winter clothing.
January Report Cards Families will be able to view online report cards on Jan. 27th. Report cards for the 2024-25 school year can be viewed, downloaded and printed. Parents and guardians can log in to MyCBE to view student information including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades and attendance information. For best access to information, log in to the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool app.
2025-2026 Intention Form You should have received a pink form home before the break asking you to indicate your intentions for your child’s attendance next year. Please return the form ASAP whether you are planning to stay at Killarney or if you are thinking about leaving. This is only necessary for Kindergarten through grade 5 students. This information helps us as we move into planning for next year.

A reminder that this month's Killarney School Council meeting will be held in person on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 in the Killarney School staffroom at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend. Join us for light snacks while the council provides updates on things going on around the school. We hope to see you there!
